Our condo building along with the building on the other side of the U-entrance, are holding a display of paintings in mid-June. Along with 5 other artists, I will be displaying four of my acrylic masterpieces outdoors. I have a table easel which will be used to show 2 of my paintings and the other two will be displayed on a table that I will supply. Maybe I'll use a pile of books or something in order to show them in an upright position.

Anybody ever have their paintings in a show if so, how did you go about the setting up?

If at first you don't succeed... shoot them again!

I've never had paintings in a show, but I have had a few photographs in shows. A bit different than what your having though, as the center hosting the show provided all the materials and space to hang the images.

I hope all goes well for you.

I've never had mine in a show. That is great, Ellie! Just think, someone may come along and decide he/she must have one of your masterpieces. Wouldn't that be sweet!

What sizes are the ones that will be on the table?

It's been a while....how did your paintings go down with Joe, the ever so down to earth public?

Did you sell anything? Are you now a reclusive millionaire and worried we will track you down and steal your new hoards of cash, or is it same o same o and off to work as per usual, you didn't say...?

The only thing I've ever had that went anything like public was one small piece of poetry, spoken out loud at a poetry reading in a small room in a public house some years back to luke warm applause.

I thought I wrote about it but in any case, I'm thrilled - beyond thrilled - to report that I sold my first painting! My husband tells everyone that now I'm a professional painter. Go figure!

In as far as the art show itself is concerned, there was perhaps about a dozen painters with varying degrees of expertise, all of us sitting in a hot sun. I displayed all my canvases with the exception of two that I had given my son. Visitors came and examined our artistic output and my canvases - all framed btw - had some very nice compliments. Actually, I would have been satisfied with compliments but then an aquaintance dropped by, spotted a picture and bought it.

Since then I've filled the walls of my condo with paintings most of which are landscapes, including a small one in the bathroom, which I adore. Would you believe one of my friends wanted to buy the picture I sold? She even asked me to make another one but I declined since it took me a long time to finish that one. It's a painting of a path in the woods with bluebells (you know about bluebells in England) growing on either side. Actually I probably could sell more paintings but I find it very hard to part with them. I suppose with the right price, I could Wink I'm working on my first larger canvas for our dining room. I've already painted the background shades of pale yellow and beige and done a smaller version to test which flowrs I want to include. Tomorrow I shall be starting the painting.

I'm hoping to take art lessons this fall to learn technique. The most important thing - at least for me - is to paint, period. I move into another dimension where nothing exists except form and color. Love it!

Thank you, dl! I'm not even sure I posted the follow-up from the art show. It was a great, great experience and as I wrote, I was thrilled that people/visitors even stopped to examine my paintings - and dish out comments. I think there was a smile on my face all day. Selling a painting was icing on the cake.

In as far a the paintings are concerned - still very shy to post them. I will in the near future, though. You're a very busy lady these days, Ms donnalee! Very pleased for you.

I have a private show of my photos and book signing coming up in Dec in my hometown, sponsored by a new shop in the re-vitalized downtown area (riverfront).  I am having a hard time deciding what to show. It is a small town and I can't decide what will be best received. I hope I'll see some old friends, etc. and am combining it with a long over-due trip to the Outer Banks!

I used to enter art shows way back when I was younger and painted. I remember how exciting it was when once in a while I'd sell something.

We're very proud of you, Elliekins. (By the way, tell your hubby that you are an ARTEEST, not a painter).
When will we get to see some of your paintings? Please, please, please with cherries on top!!
