Looking out my dining room window, I saw my dog, Socks, dragging a white, furry, headless creature and stopping to chew on it's fleshy parts. Too big to be a rabbit. Looked a little like my cat, Josie. Nah, dogs don't eat cats, plus they grew up together.Outside, I took a closer look. Long white fur, long tail, not much meat for this meal, four legs, I glanced around for Josie. Sudden relief, the tail was too short to be Josie. Neighbor Glenn was visiting at this time. He pointed out the tiny hoofs attached to the legs. "Probably a stillborn calf." Yeah, could be, except I never saw a newborn calf that was that small. Coyotes were noisy the night before Socks carried his prize to my yard. Socks kept one protective paw on the fur as we inspected the critter. Socks knows I'm top authority and he would give it up, if I attempted to take it.  Plenty of cows nearby. I doubt that calves have such long, furry hair. So what it is??

I haven't a clue as to what the creature might be (not kowing the wildlife in your neck of the world) but I'll lay good odds  that it tastes of chicken.  Grin

The tail is too long to be a goat and too thin to be a skunk (Are there white skunks?). I guess we'll never know because it is buried under snow and if the buzzards get it later, there won't be enough pieces to quess at it. Thanks for the goat suggestion, Gray Mare. I'll settle for that one anyway.
