As mentioned in a previous posting my short-short playette, "The God Call" got its first airing in a reading by a group in North Carolina. According to Sam the producer/director, it was very well received. Basically, the play focuses on a phone call made by G-d to a student studying and mumbling "oh G-d" as a kind of frustrated outlet, and G-d calling him on the phone in response. This got me thinking further as to the possibility and challenge, actually, of turning this into a proper play i.e. one or two act play. Thing is and to be candid, I'm a little nervous about creating a role where I put words in the All-Powerful-and-Mighty's mouth. I mean, what are the religious ramifications? Could I be smited as a result? Nobody wants to be smited, right? The project is still in the thinking stage now and who knows if I won't get a warning in a dream. Isn't that the way it works? Wink

Your story sounds very interesting, Ellie. I had not considered any ramifications. Three movies, with a theme similar to yours, didn't have any unusual incidents, that I know of. I've heard only extemely vivid dreams are considered noteworthy.

I am undecided-yes, no, yes, no, yes, no, maybe..

Pleasant dreams, Ellie.

Nope! yu will not be smited/smitten/visited with plagues or anything of that nature.

I've been led to believe and accept, that the taking of the Lord's name  - in vain - means just that.   Taking, or using the name of God for one's own advantage.  The  very utterance of His name does not constitute breaking of that Commandment.

I like the idea of the play and I hope it gets stage time.

The subject can't be too bad - your Canadians - at the time of writing - have two gold medals.

I agree with Sir. I like the sound of your play. It would be very interesting. Remember, afew years ago, I wrote a piece in which I was taking notes as God explained to me the Ten Commandments. I survived. There were no lightning bolts.

Go for it!! It's a great idea!
